Tucked away in the charming scenery of Islay, Trout Fly Guest House is a delightful find. Hosting by Niall and Linda, the atmosphere feels welcoming from the outset. While the room I stayed in was a bit snug for my taste, the private bathroom across the hallway was spacious enough to accommodate my needs. The real highlight, though, was the breakfast. Niall’s skill in the kitchen shines through, especially with his Laphroaig waffles and haggis. Each morning, I indulged in the fresh offerings, which were both well-cooked and thoughtfully presented, truly setting a high bar for the day ahead. Another notable aspect was the complimentary tea and coffee facilities, including an electric kettle in the room—small comforts that contribute greatly to a home-like experience after a day of exploring Islay's breathtaking landscapes. All things considered, Trout Fly offers a brilliant blend of comfort and value; it provides a solid base for adventurers while maintaining a touch of luxury that makes the experience worthwhile. Trust me, this is a wise choice for any traveler keen on exploring Islay without breaking the bank.
